In case you don't know him, Noah is the Diabetes Dude.
He was diagnosed with Type 1 in 2007 at age 6. He (along with help from his awesome family) created an awareness campaign. His BLUE flamingos are traveling the globe and spreading awareness! He has "flocked" celebrities (like Bret Michaels) and tv shows (The Today Show)! He's also flocked lots of families living with Type 1 every day.
We were lucky enough to get "flocked" a while back! You can read about it HERE.
Noah and his family are off on the "I Feel Free Tour". This summer they are traveling through the US - visiting diabetes camps and events as they go. We are so excited that they are coming close to us! We will be visiting them at a local camp and are planning a fun event for the night before! Click the link to see if he will be showing up in YOUR neck of the woods!
The blue flamingos really get people talking - which leads to a lot of education being shared about Type 1. The ambassador program (Sweetpea is an ambassador for our state) also really gets the kids involved in advocating and raising awareness for diabetes - while also showing them that they are NOT alone!
But - the Diabetes Dude needs your help!
Taken from the DD website:
The Diabetes Dude is in need of some great people who would be willing to make a donation to help us obtain 501c3 status. The fee to apply for 501c3 status is $850, which is quite pricey, but with 501c3 non-profit status comes grants and funding to help further The Diabetes Dude mission, which is to raise diabetes awareness and help support people living with type 1 diabetes. There is so much that could be done with the right funding but it all starts with the application! The Diabetes Dude's mission, so far, has been financially supported solely through our family and some generous people who have made contributions when they can. In order to continue and further the mission, we desperately need 501c3 non-profit status. The goal is to raise enough funds by July 8th to allow us to file the application next week. Please, make a donation, every little bit counts towards the goal. Every person making a donation will get a thank you plaque for helping us reach 501c3 status. Just imagine what we could do together! To make a donation to help the Diabetes Dude continue his awareness campaign, click HERE.
Thank you for your help!
Sweetpea should be an ambassador for everything, she's so adorable!! How could anyone resist? : )
