Call to Action

JDRF Advocacy is asking you to take action!
Please call your Members of Congress in Washington and tell them to support a MULTI-YEAR RENEWAL of the Special Diabetes Program - THIS YEAR!
The Special Diabetes Program is our nation’s most effective tool to combat diabetes and its complications. The program has received strong bipartisan support in Congress since 1997 and, given its successes, has proven to be worthy of continued federal investment.
For more information about the SDP, click HERE.
The SDP is set to expire unless Congress renews it this year. This would be a terrible set back and funding would be reduced below FY2004 levels.
I don't know about you - but I don't wanna waste time or mess around. I want a cure NOW. And I'll do whatever I can to advance us towards it.
And that means calling Members of Congress!
JDRF has made it easy- you can get talking points, phone numbers... everything you need.
You can find your legislator HERE.
You can find resources for talking with Members of Congress HERE.
If you'd like specific help with the SDP Call to Action, leave me a comment with your email and zip code and I can help you.
This isn't the only way to help, though...
Are you an Advocate?
What are you waiting for?
Don't be scared. It sounds big and scary but it's not. Chances are very good that you are ALREADY an advocate! If you talk about your life with diabetes, educate others about Type 1, care about what's going on with Type 1 on a national and local level - then you're already an advocate!
Why not make it official?
All you have to do is click HERE and fill out the form.
An Advocacy Team Chair - someone just like me (and I'm not scary, am I?) will contact you. You can be as involved as you like. Signing up to be an advocate allows you to get emails from JDRF about what's going on locally and nationally. No one is going to bug you, call you every night during dinner, hound you, come to your door.... Trust me. I'm an Advocacy Team Chair and I'm pretty busy during dinner!
It's not the only way to get involved, though. There are other ways... click HERE to find out what they are!
I really encourage you to make a couple of phone calls. Sign up to advocate.
It's our chance to get our voices heard. To tell our story. To make a difference.
To help find a CURE.

I was going to blog about this, and then I saw your post. So I did a short blog post and linked to this post, which is excellent. Nice job! Now let's hope we can make a difference and people will call, so we can keep that funding!
